Community Benefits Agreements
A new store should serve the needs of the community. If a new Fresh & Easy store is coming to your community, you have a right to ask that the store:
- Provides good jobs
- Hires local residents
- Follows all zoning requirements
- Provides adequate parking
- Works with neighbors to ensure delivery trucks do not disturb nearby homes
- Sells alcohol responsibly to prevent underage drinking
- Honors WIC benefits for low-income women and children
- Is environmentally responsible
Communities, like San Francisco’s Mission District, are coming together to ask that Fresh & Easy sign a Community Benefits Agreement contract with the community before opening a store in their neighborhood. These contracts hold Fresh & Easy to their promise to be a good neighbor.
